ARCADE RESTAURANT, DOWNTOWN MEMPHIS

The Arcade is considered to be the oldest cafe in Memphis, and it has, indeed, been around as long as I can remember. In the 60's, my parents took me and my friends there after movies. (Like Elvis and Ann Margaret in Viva Las Vegas!) My girlfriends and I would ride the bus downtown for shopping at Goldsmith's and Casual Corner, glamour shots at Blue Light Studio, and lunch at The Arcade. In the early 2000's, my daughter and I met at The Arcade every Sunday morning for breakfast. We always sat in the same booth and began our meal with coffee and a plate of beignets. Today, I usually go for the classic breakfast and a heaping serving of nostalgia. The Arcade always has a unique mix of locals and tourists...good food...and for me, great memories.
